Creatures

These are my favorite briefs to work on at Converse. I really enjoy the opportunity to turn these little shoes into something else entirely. I often start by covering an old shoe in masking tape and doodling all over it. It’s really hard to design these within the flat confines of illustrator. Doing it this way lets me adjust placement and proportion on the fly. I also love manipulating the original shell patterns to help shape the shoe into whatever creature I’m trying to depict. It’s amazing to see everyone smile when they see these.
