SUICIDE SQUAD
I designed this collection to accompany the release of the Suicide Squad movie from DC Comics and Warner Brothers. I got an up-close look at all of the incredible costumes and wanted to channel some of those creations into footwear. Two of the SKUs in this collection reimagine the jackets of Harley Quinn and The Joker as sneakers. I enjoyed finding ways to incorporate all of the bold details. The third design is a remix of the film’s poster, depicting illustrated versions of the characters skulls. This design broke all the engagement records on the Converse Instagram account.
Batman 80th Anniversary
It was an honor to work on the 80th Anniversary collection for one of my favorite superheroes growing up. Converse as a company and I, personally, had done quite a few Batman designs already so we needed a way for this collection to stand out. I ended up drawing inspiration from vintage Sex Pistols posters and Andy Warhol. This resulted in a collection that was quite unique from the shoes we’d done in the past.
DC Comics Rebirth
In 2016, DC Comics announced the Rebirth event in which they planned to reboot their entire lineup starting fresh with issue number 1. We decided to launch a special Converse collection to mark such a monumental event in the DC Universe. While visiting my childhood comic shop, I was inspired by the shelves upon shelves of trade paperbacks. These are collections of 6-10 issues of a comic collected in one volume. I imagined this sneaker collection all lined up on a shelf with the heelstays, like the trade paperback bindings, displaying the titles and volumes of the comics.
